Peer Guidelines

The current CIMS cycle will be for 5 years.  Each year, staff members will choose a peer to review each other’s project following the guidelines listed below.

1.    During the 5-year cycle, at least one peer needs to be from a different area of  expertise (e.g. if you are a speech pathologist one peer during the cycle needs to be someone other than a speech pathologist).

2.    During the 5-year cycle, at least one peer needs to be from a different school and if possible different school district.

3.    During the 5-year cycle, each staff member will need to choose 5 different peers.

Consider the following suggestions before choosing a peer.

1.   An expert in the area of you project (e.g. if you project is in the area of math, consider the math teacher in your building).

2.    If your project targets one student, consider the staff member who will be receiving the student the following year.

3.    If your project targets regular education staff, consider the building principal.

4.    Consider someone who is familiar with you and your job responsibilities.

5.    Consider staff members who may offer insight into other student services (e.g. lower grade level and upper grade level work together to gain insight into the challenges at each level).

6.    Consider staff members whose responsibilities are very different.

Once you have obtained a peer reviewer, please notify DA or Liz.  If you need assistance locating a peer reviewer, please call DA or Liz.
