Low Incidence Programs (Mixed Abilities)

Students with disabilities display a wide range of abilites and needs. While the majority of the students we serve have difficulty with learning, we also have students with severe physical or intellectual impairments which can affect more than the child’s ability to learn. In educational terms, students with common learning disabilities are referred to as “high incidence” while students with greater cognitive, physical, and/or functional needs are less frequent and are referred to as “low incidence”.

SKACD refers to “low incidence” populations as as “Mixed Abilites”, since there is a wide variability in the abilty levels of this demographic. We have specialized resources for assisting these students, including a coordinator to oversee the evalution and services provided to our low incidence populations.
